Based around the Pan American Highway, the route winds 17,000 miles through 16 countries and over every sort of landscape and terrain imaginable.
Mountains, canyons, volcanoes and beaches; National parks, ancient settlements, deserts and cities; Mounties, Native Americans, llama farmers and bears. This tour should cover it all.
The map to the right shows the plan and following this path will take me by the Rocky Mountains; down Vancouver Island; through San Francisco; Redwood National Park; Los Angeles; Acapulco; the Panama Canal; Machu Pichu; Lake Titicaca; the Salar de Uyuni; Patagonian mountains and much, much more.
